Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Invitations should Reflect the Couple, Not the “Wedding”

Maybe its me, in my flaming artist‘s head, that cannot seem to wrap my brain around some of the wedding invitations these days.  I see them all over the internet and lets be honest, they are odd.  Some are (let’s just put it out there), weird!

When I was younger, I remember being within my social unit and we used to joke about the difference between truly being unique and drawing attention to oneself. I often used this prompting questions with my students, and would inquire of the brides/grooms of these insane invites the same…  are you truly being unique and true to yourself, or are you requesting undue attention for weirdness?

The definition of unique:  not common nor like another.

In and of themselves, wedding invitations are bound to be unique in some capacity, because the names are different on each one!   And perhaps the parental units have names differing from that of another bride and groom…

But…

When I visualize UNIQUE wedding invitations, I visualize invitations that are classy, amazing, display your powerful personality, and that are different and that stand out from the norm.

So, what would make your wedding invitations unique with regard to your wedding?

Try these ideals to create an amazing, classic invite that is truly unique!

• utilize your wedding theme (not necessarily your colors) to ground an incredible creation
• utilize classy narrative in a readable font that differs from the standard “so-n-so, and so-n-so… along with so-n-so”, etc.
• utilize the basis of your faith and foundation of your ceremony to discover incredible word choice for your invitations
• think about your venue!  brainstorm descriptive statements about the location to help create an incredible narrative to define such an amazing occasion!
