It’s okay to FALL in LOVE with your Senior Portraits :: Omaha Photographer

Doesn’t matter what you call them…

Senior Portraits
Senior Pics
Senior Pix
Senior Photos
Senior Photographs
“Graduation Pichures”  (yes, I know it is mis-spelled)

sheesh, it seems like every year there is a new word.

It wasn’t all that long ago that “Senior Portraits” meant setting up an appointment with a district contracted photographer and sitting in front of cheesy backdrops.  The end result being images that were well, MEH!  Okay, but exactly the same as everyone elses.

Christina (me) likes to call those images c/v photos.  You still see them today out of many larger studios in the area.  If you are a PC keyboard shortcut person, you will know what C/V means.  Cntrl C — Cntrl V = Copy-Paste.  Take one person out, slap in the next person.  Heck, we should be using green screen at that rate.

Some folks would like to think that the age of Senior Images have evolved (and in many ways it has), if you attend a large public school, now you have a gazillion choices. Settling for dry, sterile, merely technical correct imagery is a thing of the past for you.  You (and your parents) have the opportunity to invest in so much more than an overpriced outfit dictated by some school official; however… truth be told some seniors today either:

a.  don’t have these options, because we are still being dictated to, or
b.  we have options beyond our dictated yearbook image, but don’t feel like we can employ them for a myriad of reasons.

I figure you have two options if you are in category B.

1.  continue to live as if you were caught in option a, and complain about it… or
2.  go to the “contract photographer” for your yearbook image, (complain about it if you choose to), and choose an alternative for the remainder of your senior experience.  Make it a great, enjoyable and a true celebration of you… and fall in love with this time in your life (and your Senior Images).

Sloan Senior Sessions can range from short and sweet to eight hours of fun and variety! :)  Christina chooses not to employ “traditional images” that seem to come out of the 80′s.  Though she does create the classic images that Grandma will love, she knows that you will love them as well.  They are classic with an edge.  Ultimately you will have images you really, really love!  The creation of these images begins long before one ever puts the camera in hand.  They begin with conversations about who you are, what you are interested in, and how you roll!   Much of the imagery has a magazine flair and some errs on the fine art side.  But simply put, it is likely you won’t find one that shoots just like her.

Whether it is your goal to commission Christina to create your senior images (use the form below), or search for a photographer with a style with which you fall in love… know that you do have options.  You have the option to CHOOSE.  Choose wisely!  And I hope you choose me! :)
